My SKI Soda Finders Guide

This is a list of places that I have found Ski (and other Double Cola products), or where I have been told it is available by others. Unless otherwise noted, assume original flavor Ski. I live in Kentucky, so most of my own “sightings” have been in this state & in Southern Ohio.

In some areas, Ski is plentiful everywhere. In others, I have found Ski much more likely to be found in smaller grocery stores (like IGA or convenience stores) and less-likely in large chains. In a few others, it seems to be found mostly in the large chains, like Kroger and Wal-Mart, and not in smaller stores.

There are various websites set up by fans that are devoted to Ski. One such site is Ski for Your Pleasure which contains a lot of interesting information, including product news & history, as well as audio & video clips, including a very early Ski TV advertisement. Also included are photos which show the “evolution” of Ski packaging & advertising. There are also a couple of Facebook Pages/Groups dedicated to Ski: Ski Citrus Soda (official) and SKI, a Southern Double Cola Beverage! (unofficial fan group page). There is also now an official Double Cola Facebook page: Drink Double Cola.

NOTE - Cherry Ski has become Ski Infrared as part of the Ski package graphics change. You may see both names used interchangeably on this page. Caffeine Free Ski is also being phased-out in favor of Diet Caffeine Free Ski. If you see “Caffeine Free” on this page, it means the old non-diet formula. Once the phase-out is complete, I do not plan to differentiate between Diet and C/F Diet.

NEWS 11/11/2010: Per this article, Double Cola will now again be distributing their lemon-lime drink, Chaser, in the United States. UPDATE 01/2011: The first Chaser sighting has been reported to this site. It was found in the Old Dutch IGA stores in Danville, Virginia.

ALABAMA

Guntersville

• Y Grocery (3/2012) – Second-hand, per a post on the Double-Cola Facebook page – Double-Cola is available here.

Huntsville / Athens / North-Central Alabama – Second-Hand (2006). Ski and Double Cola should be available in the Huntsville area & other parts of Northern Alabama. Check Piggly Wiggly & places that also carry Faygo. Also, Internet rumors indicate that Kentucky favorite Ale-8-One can also be found at some Kroger stores in the Huntsville area. Further second-hand “rumors” (5/2010) put Ski in some stores in Gadsden.

Mobile – Second-Hand (8/2009), per a thread on Bevnet Bevboard – Ski (20), Cherry Ski (20), Double Cola (20/SC), and various flavors of Jumbo (20) are available in at least one “Mom & Pop” store in the Mobile area.

Talladega / Anniston – Second-Hand – Double Cola products should be available in this area.

CALIFORNIA

San Jose - Second-Hand, confirmed available per a thread on Bevnet Bevboard.

FLORIDA

Destin – Second-Hand (5/2009) - 12 – Per a photo-posting I found on flickr.com, regular and Cherry Ski are available in the Destin area.

GEORGIA

Second-Hand information puts Double Cola products in “some” convenience stores in the Atlanta, Newnan & Macon areas, as well as the Northwest part of the state.

ILLINOIS

Breese / East St. Louis / South Central Illinois – GB/2L/20/SD – possibly other packaging - Breese is the home of Excel Bottling, where Ski is still bottled in 10oz glass bottles (& with real cane sugar!). The company web site at http://www.excelbottling.com includes a list of places in this area that Excel distributes Ski to, including places where it can be found on tap. It looks like Ski is available in original, Diet, C/F, and Cherry. Double Cola may also be available, and Jumbo is available in some locations in this area. Their website, as well as http://www.glassbottlesoda.org , imply that Cash-and-Carry customers are also welcome at the bottler. Excel also bottles/distributes their own line of sodas. • Deirberg's Market (7/2010) - 4000 Green Mount Crossing Dr, Shiloh – Second-Hand – Ski may be available at Deirberg's, possibly in cans.

• Wal-Mart (8/2010) – O'Fallon & Edwardsville locations – Second-Hand – Ski is available here.

• Additional notes from a reader (9/2011) - “Ski is available at almost every convenience store in 12 packs, cases, 20 oz and fountain; almost every grocery in 12 pack and cases; and almost every restaurant. Dairy King in Breese makes it in every syrup flavor” including blueberry.

Carbondale - Second-Hand (11/2010) – Ski is now available at some grocery stores, and even on tap at some convenience stores.

Chester – Second-Hand (9/2009) – Ski is now available in the Chester area.

Evansville (IN) Area – see Indiana

Gibson City – Second-Hand (8/2009) – Ski is available at a place called “Big R.” Update (7/2010): It may no longer be available at this location.

Homer (Danville Area) / Monticello

• Homer Soda – both locations - Second-Hand (8/2009) - Ski is available at the two Homer Soda locations, along with other hard-to-find sodas and colas, including Cheerwine, Moxie, & Kickapoo Joy Juice. Homer Soda

INDIANA

Bedford / Bloomington / French Lick – From Tom East, Lawrence Co. Beverage (5/2010) – There is a local Double Cola & Ski distributor in Lawrence County. Tom recently contacted me with a list of places that they distribute Double Cola products, including Diet Double Cola. Tom's entire list is here.

• Avoca Mini Mart – Avoca, IN - Second-Hand, per a post on Facebook (2/2011) – Ski and Double Cola will be available at this store starting in February, 2011.

Crawfordsville – Second-Hand, per a post on Facebook (10/2010) – Ski is now available in Crawfordsville.

Evansville Area (2/2008) – This is the home of Tri-State Canning, an RC bottler where Ski and Double Cola are canned/bottled. Check out http://www.courierpress.com/news/2008/feb/29/pop-art for a 2008 Evansville Courier & Press article about Ski & Ski availability in the Evansville area. Double Cola should also be available locally.

• Buehler's Buy Low – 4851 Pennysylvania Avenue – 12/20/2L – Diet, C/F, & Cherry also – From the article. Check other Buehler's locations for availability.

• Drone's Convenience Store – 410 N Tekoppel Avenue – From the article.

• Corner Bar and Grill – 2668 Mount Vernon Avenue – SD - From the article.

• Eddie Geis' Barber and Beauty Shop – 414 S Barker Avenue – From the article.

• Hagedorn's Tavern – 2037 W Franklin St. - SD – From the article.

• The Coffeehouse (1999) – Second-Hand. If this place still exists, Ski & Double Cola are/were sold here.

• Landmark BBQ (12/2008) – 3901 Broadway – SD/SC, Diet also - Second-Hand, per this blog entry, Ski is served here. From the included photos, it looks like they serve RC instead of Double Cola, though.

• Wesselman's (9/2010) - Second-Hand. Ski is available here.

• Schnuck's (11/2010) - Second-Hand. Ski is available here.

• Elsewhere - The article implies that Ski is especially popular on the West Side. Rumor has it that Ski and Double Cola can be found in Ski & RC vending machines throughout that area, and on tap at various convenience stores, especially on the West End. Also, you can always find Double Cola products on tap during games at Double Cola Fields, the soccer complex for the Evansville/Vanderburgh County schools.

Jasper – I have been told that Ski can be found here, in at least cans. Double Cola & Ski are distributed by local company Hedinger Beverage, the same company that now owns & distributes Dad's Root Beer products. I would check Buehler's & other places where Dad's can be found. Update (2/2010): From the list of non-alcoholic beverages on their web site, www.hedingerbeverage.com, they do indeed distribute Double Cola and Ski. Thanks to a reader for the tip regarding their homepage!

“Kentuckiana” - Louisville (KY) Area & Surrounding Cities – Second-Hand (5/2010) – Ski is rumored to be available in Wal-Mart stores in the Indiana portion of the Louisville Area, as well as Corydon.

Salem - Second-Hand (10/2010) – Double Cola and Ski are available in the Washington County area.

Santa Claus – Second-Hand (2/2011) – Ski is available in the Spencer County area, including at the local IGA stores.

Terre Haute – Second-Hand (2/2008) – not available.

KENTUCKY

IMHO, the best places to look for Ski in Kentucky are small-chain or locally-owned grocery stores (like Houchen's, IGA, etc.) & convenience stores. Seems to be most-likely available in the Lake Cumberland area, in cities along the Western Kentucky & Blue Grass Parkways, in cities along I-65 (excluding Louisville), in cities in the Ale-8-One “core” distribution area, and in cities near Greensburg. Double Cola is harder to find. It is apparently still available in the Madisonville area, in Central City, in Greensburg, and possibly in places near Evansville, Indiana.

Ale-8-One “Core Area” - See Lexington. Ale-8-One is now a Ski distributor. Winchester is where Ale-8-One is bottled, and the “core area” “radiates” out from Clark County. Look for Ski in any area where Ale-8-One is available in quantity.

First Stop Stores – First Stop is a chain of convenience stores/gas stations which are mostly found in Northeastern Kentucky and Southern Ohio. 20oz plastic bottles of Ski seem to be a staple at First Stop stores. Some locations are listed below. For a full list of locations, check out the “Locations” link on their homepage. Note that two of the Maysville, Kentucky, area locations appear to be missing from their list.

Western Ky Coca Cola Distribution Area (7/2011) - I am not exactly sure of the boundaries of their distribution area, but a reader has reported that Excel Bottling (via their Facebook page) has announced that their glass-bottled, sugar-sweetened Ski will be distributed by Western Ky Coca Cola.

Albany – If you can't find Ski here, you are not looking hard enough! Albany is along US 127, South of Lake Cumberland and North of Dale Hollow Lake. When I was a kid, I am pretty sure this was the first place I ever tried Double Cola and Ski. I have not seen Double Cola here in a long time, though.

• Houchen's/Hometown IGA (10/2008) – Westview Shopping Center, Burkesville Rd (KY 1590) – 12/24/2L – Diet & C/F also – easy to find in the Soft Drink aisle. Ski has about as much shelf space as any of the “top tier” cola brands here.

• Cumberland Corner Deli Market (10/2010) – corner of KY 734 & KY 90/US 127 – 12/20/2L/DB/SC – Diet 20 – 12-packs & 2-litres on shelf over near deli. Cold 10 & 20 oz bottles, and cans, in the coolers.

• Ely's on the Square (10/2010) – 203 S Cross (US 127 S) – 20/SC – Diet 20 – in the cooler across from the check-out counter.

• Craft Car Wash (10/2010) – 901 ½ N Cross (US 127) – There are two Ski machines outside of this business.

• Elsewhere – The places above are the places I am certain I have seen and/or puchased Ski, but I seem to see it in just about any store I've stepped into. I know it is in at least one convenience store/filling station on the South side of town, and there is at least one working Ski vending machine inside a business near (but not on) the square.

Bardstown

• Kroger (2/2009) – Second-Hand. Ski is available here, and may be available in other places in town as well.

Bowling Green – Second-Hand, multiple accounts (5/2010) – Ski in all varieties (including Infrared) is available here, but Double Cola apparently is not. Check Houchen's or Kroger, but Ski should be just about anywhere.

Campbellsville – Second-Hand, multiple accounts (5/2010) – Ski should be easily available in multiple packaging, regular, diet, and C/F. Double Cola is not available here, but can be found in nearby Greensburg. See also Greensburg.

• Fasttrack (7/2011) – Hwy 55 – GB – Second-Hand (Thanks!!!!) - This store sells the sugar-sweetened, glass-bottled Ski from Excel. May also sell Ski in other packaging.

Caneyville / Short Creek / Falls of Rough – Ski is available in Caneyville, but as you travel up KY 79 towards Rough River Lake, it disappears. See also Leitchfield.

• Caneyville BP (6/2009) – KY 79 at Taylor Dr, just N of Western KY Pkwy Jct – 12/20 – 12-can-packs on soft drink aisle, 20oz bottles in coolers in back.

• Green's IGA (6/2009) – 404 E Maple (US 62), Caneyville – 12 – 12-can-packs on soft drink aisle.

Cave City / Glasgow – Second-Hand, multiple accounts (6/2009) – In Glasgow, Ski should be easily available in multiple packaging, regular, diet, and possibly C/F. In Cave City:

• Cave City Shell Food Mart (2008) – 901 Mammoth Cave St (I-65, Exit 53) – 12/20/SC - Second-Hand. May be available in other places nearby as well.

Central City / Greenville – Ski & Double Cola are distributed out of nearby Madisonville, & at least Ski is probably available in other stores in this area. Where I have found it:

• Neighbor's Shell (6/2009) – US 431 at Western KY Pkwy, Central City – 12/20/SC – 12-can-packs on soda aisle, 20oz bottles & single cans in coolers along the back of the store.

• Stewart's Foodliner (6/2009) – 219 S Second, Central City – 6P/12 – Double Cola 12 – This store also carries Double Cola. Both were shelved with the Dr. Pepper products. Double Cola shelf space was limited, so if you don't find it, ask for it. Stewart's also has a location in Greenville. I didn't get a chance to check there, but they may also carry Double Cola & Ski. Thanks to a fellow Double Cola fan for the tip!

Columbia / Edmonton – Second-Hand, multiple accounts (7/2010) – In Columbia, Ski should be easily available in multiple packaging, regular, diet, and C/F. Ski should also be available in Edmonton. See also Greensburg and Jamestown/Russell Springs.

Danville – See Lexington for potential availability information. See also Junction City / Moreland / Houstonville. I've looked places (chain stores, not c-stores) here in the past and not found Ski, but the Ale-8 distribution deal may have changed things.

• Man-O-War Express Mart (6/2010) – 101 Man-O-War Dr – 12 – Second-Hand, thanks for the tip! Ski is available here.

Elizabethtown – There is a local Ski distributor here, so it shouldn't be difficult to find. Stores that I know, or have been told, carry Ski:

• E.W. James (6/2009) – 200 St. John, at corner with Dixie – 12/SC – 12-can-packs on soda aisle, single cans in Coke machine out front.

• Houchen's (6/2009) – Houchen's Plaza, 200 Sycamore – 12/20/SC – Diet 12 – 12-can-packs on soda aisle, cold 20oz bottles by the deli, single cans in Coke machine out in front of the hobby shop next door.

• Kroger (2008) – Second-Hand, multiple accounts – 12 – Diet also - Kroger stores in the E-town area carry 12-can-packs of Ski and Diet Ski.

Evansville (IN) Area – see “Indiana” and Henderson.

Frankfort / Lawrenceburg / Versailles – See Lexington for potential availability information in other parts of this area. See also Springfield. Rumor puts Ski in other smaller stores in Frankfort. Note (1/2012) – Double Cola was not found at Cracker Barrel – Frankfort during a recent visit. See Shelbyville.

• Terry's 5 and 10 (4/2012) - 480-B Lexington Rd., Versailles – 12/20/SC/GB – Diet 12 – Ski is again plentiful here. They even have signs on the door announcing its return. 12-packs of cans and 6-packs of glass bottles can be found near the front of the store with the Ale-8-One products. Cold single cans, glass bottles, and 20oz bottles are in the cooler across the aisle. Ski is also available in an Ale-8 vending machine outside. The clerk was even drinking a Ski during a recent visit.

• Kroger (11/2011) – Franklin Square, Frankfort – GB - Ski is available with the Ale-8-One products, sometimes on the soft-drink aisle and sometimes on the beer-and-cheese aisle.

• Cowboy's Food Store/Marathon (3/2012) - 1585 Versailles Rd. (US 60), Frankfort (near I-64) – GB – Ski is available in the Ale-8-One end-cap cooler.

• Five Star BP (10/2011) – 1645 Versailles Rd. East (US 60), Frankfort (near I-64) – 20 - Ski is available in the Ale-8-One cooler. If you don't find it there, Ski & Ale-8 also have space in the same cooler as the Faygo flavors. This is the Five Star BP on the Eastbound side of the highway.

• Five Star BP (4/2012) – 1620 Versailles Rd. West (US 60), Frankfort (near I-64) – 20 - Ski is available with the Ale-8-One products, in the cooler next to the Faygo flavors. This is the Five Star BP on the Westbound side of the highway.

• Wal-Mart (3/2012) - Leonardwood at US 127, Frankfort – GB/12 – Diet 12 – In addition to 12-pack cans, Ski is also available in 6-pack, 12oz glass bottles in the Ale-8 section of the soft-drink aisle.

• Not found at: Kroger – Brighton Park, Frankfort (3/2012).

Georgetown – See Lexington. See also Millersburg.

Grand Rivers / Land Between the Lakes area

• Jeff & Emma's IGA (7/2010) – Grand Rivers – 12 – Double-Cola & Infrared 6C – Second-Hand, from a poster on Facebook that included a picture of the products.

Greensburg / Munfordville – Regular and Diet Ski should be easily available in multiple packaging. Greensburg was the former home of Greensburg Bottling, a large producer of Ski & Double Cola. The Kentucky Headhunters are from this area. One of their hits was the song Dumas Walker: “...a slawburger, fries, and a bottle of Ski...” In Greensburg, look at Houchen's & the Headhunter Grill (if it is still open).

• Five Star Food Mart (6/2009) –111 S Main, Greensburg - Second-Hand – Double Cola 12 – Ski also - A fellow Double Cola fan sent me this tip. Double Cola is available here & apparently sells pretty well. Ski is also available here.

• IGA (7/2011) – Greensburg - GB – Second-Hand (Thanks!!!!) - The local IGA sells the sugar-sweetened, glass-bottled Ski from Excel. May also sell Ski in other packaging.

• Memory Lane Restaurant (11/2010) – 1512 Main St., Munfordville – Per their Facebook page, the “Home of Poor Keys BBQ” serves Ski along with their BBQ and home cooking.

Harrodsburg / Salvisa – (5/2009) – See Lexington for potential availability information in this area. See also Springfield and Junction City.

Henderson / Sebree – In Henderson, Ski (& possibly Double Cola) might be available at Buehler's and other stores. In Sebree, one or both drinks might be available at the local IGA and other stores. See also Madisonville and “Indiana: Evansville Area.”

Hodgenville

• Houchen's (6/2008) - 492 S Main St (pretty sure this is an IGA) – 12/2L – Diet also - look for Ski on soft drink aisle.

Hopkinsville – Second-Hand, from a reader (9/2010) – Ski is available in Kroger stores in Hopkinsville.

Jamestown / Russell Springs

• Houchen's Market (03/2010) – 2453 Lakeway Dr (JCT of US 127 & KY 379), Russell Springs – 12/20/2L/6P/SC – Diet 12/20/2L/SC – C/F 12 – Ski is plentiful on the soft-drink aisle. 20 oz bottles can be found near the check-out counter. This location has a Ski machine (cans) out front.

• Kroger (03/2010) – 181 S US 127 #900, Russell Springs – 12/24/20/2L/SC – Diet 12/2L/SC – C/F 12 – Ski is plentiful on the soft-drink aisle, as well as end-cap displays. Ski in 20 oz bottles is available in a cooler by the gas-station cashier's “cage.” This location has a Ski machine (cans) out front.

• K-Mart (03/2010) – North Ridge Shopping Center, US 127, Russell Springs – 12/24/6P/2L/20/SC – Diet 12/SC – C/F 12 – Ski is available here on the soft-drink aisle, and on a center-aisle display nearby. This location has a Ski machine (cans) out front.

• Rite-Aid (03/2010) – 183 S US 127, Russell Springs – 12/2L/20 – Ski is available in the soft-drink section, and in the coolers near the front.

Junction City / Moreland / Houstonville – Ski is available in this area, but cannot be found everywhere.

• Don's Food Mart (5/2009) – US 127 at Michelle Ln, approx. 4 miles S of Junction City – 12/20/SC – 20 oz bottles & cans of regular Ski are in the coolers on the back wall. Plenty of 12-can-packs were on an end-cap near the 2 litre displays, although I didn't see any 2 litres of Ski.

Leitchfield – I believe the Houchen's stores are both IGA stores, but can't remember for sure. Other stores may also carry Ski & are worth a look. See also Caneyville.

• Houchen's (6/2008) - 115 Sequoia Dr – 12 – may also carry 2L – shelf space was limited, but look for Ski on soft drink aisle.

• Houchen's (6/2008) - 492 S Main St (KY 259) – 12 – may also carry 2L – shelf space was limited, but look for Ski on soft drink aisle.

• JR Food Mart (6/2009) – 941 Brandenburg (KY 259) – 20 – may also carry 12 – 20oz bottles in coolers along side wall.

• Wal-Mart (6/2008) - 1801 Elizabethtown Road (US 62) – SC – did not find any Ski in the store, but I did find it in a Coke machine at the entrance.

Lexington / Georgetown / Nicholasville / Winchester – See also Millersburg, Frankfort, and Richmond. From the folks at Double-Cola (6/2010), Ski is now being distributed by Ale-8-One in their “core area.” Ale-8 is bottled in Winchester, and their core area includes Lexington, Frankfort, Danville, Richmond, Paris, West Liberty, and points in-between. That is a good chunk of Central and Central-Eastern Kentucky. For a complete list of the counties within the “core area,” see the link on this page of the Ale-8-One website.

• Kroger (1/2012) – Boston Rd. at Man O'War, Lexington – 12/6P/GB – Diet 12 - Ski can be found, in good quantity, with the Ale-8-One products on the soft-drink aisle.

• Kroger (2/2012) – Brannon Crossing, Nicholasville – 12/6P/GB – Diet 12 - Ski can be found, in good quantity, with the Ale-8-One products on the soft-drink aisle.

• Kroger (2/2011) – Richmond Rd., Lexington – Ski is available here.

• Kroger (4/2012) – Beaumont, Lexington – 12/6P/GB – Diet 12 - Ski and Diet Ski are available here.

• Kroger (7/2010) – 955 S. Main, Nicholasville – 12/20/GB - Diet 12 – Second-Hand. Ski can be found with the Ale-8-One in the local Kroger store. Thanks for the tip!

• Kroger (7/2010) – 135 Bellerive (at US 68 – Harrodsburg Rd), Nicholasville-Lexington – GB – 6-packs of glass bottles can be found with the Ale-8-One products. This store is practically on the county line.

• Wal-Mart (9/2010) – Winchester & Georgetown locations – Second-hand.

• Not found at: Wal-Mart – Palomar, Lexington (2/2012).

Liberty (Casey County) / Dunnville – Ski seems plentiful here, and is probably available in plenty of additional places I've not listed.

• A & D Supermarket (3/2010) – 163 Houstonville St, at the corner of Rule St. - 12/24/20/6P/2L/SC/DB – Diet 12 – This store didn't have a sign on it, so I almost missed it. It is the only store on that corner & the locals apparently have no trouble finding it. There were soda displays & coolers at the front of the store, and a soda aisle in the back, so if you can't find a variety of Ski in one place, check the other. 20 oz & “deli” bottles in the coolers, single cans in the Coke machine out front. They even have one “Double Cola” cooler still in the store, but unfortunately no Double Cola in it.

• Marathon Food Center (5/2009) – US 127 at Short Town Road, approx. 4 mi N of town – 12/20/2L/SC – Diet 20 – 20 oz bottles & cans in coolers, 12's & 2-litres in soda section.

• Jack's Express (5/2009) – 6283 S US 127, approx. 6 mi S of town – 12/20/DB/2L – 12-packs & 2-litres in soda section, smaller bottles in cooler.

• Hometown Proud IGA (3/2010) – Liberty Sq. Shopping Ctr, Wilkinson Blvd (US 127) – 12/24/6P/2L/SC – Diet 2L/SC – C/F SC – 12 & 24 packs on various end-caps, & on soda aisle along with 6-pack bottles & 2-litres. Single Cans in Ski machine outside.

• Save-A-Lot (5/2009) – 675 N Wilkinson Blvd (US 127) – 12/24/20/6P/SC – Diet SC – On a couple of end-caps & displays near the soda aisle. Single 20 oz bottles in a cooler at the check-out. Single Cans in a Coke machine outside.

• Dogwalk Market (5/2009) – US 127 at Dog Walk Street, Dunnville – 12/20/DB/SC – Diet 12/20 – Ski is an easy find in soda section & two different cooler sections. Single cans in store & in Coke machine outside.

London / Corbin – per a wall post on the Facebook page SKI, a Southern Double Cola Beverage! (9/2010) – 12 – Diet & Cherry Also - Ski is now available in the London area. Rumors (5/2010) also make it available in nearby Corbin.

Louisville / Jefferson County – I have never seen Ski in Jefferson County. The closest places I know of to find Ski are Elizabethtown & Mt. Washington. Rumor (5/2010) puts Ski in Wal-Mart stores on the Indiana side of the River. If I was going to look in Louisville at all, I would look out Bardstown Road (US 31E/150), or Dixie Highway (US 31W/60), South of the Snyder Freeway. Internet rumor also puts Ski in the Kroger store in Holiday Manor, off US 42 & KY 22 (I really, really need to verify that one!). There are rumblings (5/2010) that Double Cola is looking for a Ski distributor for Louisville. See Elizabethtown and Mt. Washington, and also Simpsonville. See also “Indiana: Kentuckiana.”

• Cost Plus World Market (5/2009) – 4600 Shelbyville Rd, St. Matthews – Double Cola GB - See “On The Web: Cost Plus World Market”. I was able to verify that the store in St. Matthews does carry the “Nostalgia” pack containing Double Cola. They also carried some other “Nostalgia” and hard-to-find sodas in single bottles in a cooler by the check-out, but I saw no Double Cola or Ski there. NOTE: Second-Hand information (9/2009) indicates that this variety pack may no longer be available in stores.

Madisonville – Second-Hand (6/2009) – Madisonville Dr. Pepper distributes both Ski & Double Cola, so both should be available at some stores in this area.

Maysville / Brooksville

• Washington First Stop (7/2009) – KY 1236 at US 68/62, Maysville – 20 – Ski can be found in the coolers along the right side of the store, along with the Dad's and Red Rock products.

• Elsewhere – I have checked other stores in Maysville (IGA: 7/2009; Kroger & a Speedway: 8/2010) and did not see any Ski. Ale-8 is distributed by a third-party in this area as it is outside of the “Core Area.” I have not checked either of the other two First Stop locations in Maysville, or the one in nearby Brooksville, but they should carry Ski.

Middlesboro / Hyden - per a wall post on the Facebook page SKI, a Southern Double Cola Beverage! (8/2010) – Ski and Ski InfraRed are now available in these cities. Per this article (11/2010), there is a local distributor.

Millersburg / Paris / Carlisle / Cynthiana – I have not had a chance to check Paris recently, but it is in the Ale-8-One core area, so I expect Ski can now be found there.

• Millersburg First Stop (9/2011) - 1135 Main St (US 68 at KY 1879), Millersburg – 20 – in coolers along back of store with Dad's Root Beer & Red Rock products.

• Crockett's IGA (8/2010) – 210 Market St, Carlisle – 12/GB/20 – 12-can-packs and 6-packs of glass bottles can be found with the Ale-8-Products. Cold glass & 20-oz plastic bottles can be found in a cooler near the check-out.

• Country Corner (4/2012) – KY 57 at KY 1678, Clintonville – Ski is available in the Ale-8-One machine out front. It may also be available inside the store; it was closed at the time I went by.

• Cynthiana First Stop – 215 W Pleasant, Cynthiana – Speculation. Ski is available in First Stop stores in this area, and is likely to be found here.

Mt. Washington / Shepherdsville – I have looked multiple places in Shepherdsville (6/2009) and did not find any Ski. In Mt. Washington, I found it at some places I looked.

• Houchen's (6/2009) – 10070 KY 44 E – 12 – Diet 12 – Plenty of Ski on the soda aisle.

• Pearl's Food Mart (6/2009) – KY 44, next door to Houchen's – 20/SC – You can find Ski in coolers along the back of the store.

• Valumarket (6/2009) – US 31E/150 at KY 44 – not found here.

• Melton's Pic-Pac IGA (6/2009) – Highland Court, Shepherdsville – This place was preparing for a Grand (Re-) Opening & was not yet open. The person who came to the door when I tried to open it at least knew what I meant when I said I was “looking for Ski” and not a job, so it might be worth a look once it is open.

Owensboro / Calhoun – Second-Hand – Ski is available in Owensboro. I'd look at Wyndall's Foodland, IGA, or Larry's Little Giant & other smaller retailers. If Albany wasn't the first place I ever tried Ski, then it was in Owensboro. It was at Larry's where I first saw & learned what the “floaties” were! Double Cola used to be available, but might not be now. In Calhoun & Livermore, Ski may be available at the local IGA & other stores. See also Central City.

Paducah / Murray - Second-Hand rumor (6/2010) is that Ski is available in some places in the Paducah area, but no mention of where it was found. Second-Hand information (2/2011) also places Ski in some convenience stores in Murray. See also Grand Rivers.

• Shell (9/2011) – I-24, Exit 3, Paducah – SC/20 – Second-Hand, from a reader. Ski is available here, and may also be available in 6-packs.

Simpsonville / Shelbyville Area / Taylorsville – I have looked in multiple places in this area (Summer, 2009), and have not found Ski. However, as of 8/2009 there is a Ski machine in Simpsonville (at a Car Wash at the corner of US 60 at 2^nd Street) that sells regular Ski. See Mt. Washington and Springfield. See also Frankfort.

• Cracker Barrel (2/2012) – KY 53 at I-64, Shelbyville – Double Cola GB – This location does carry the 4-packs of glass-bottled, sugar-sweetened Double Cola.

• The Source Comics & Games (5/2009) – 1601 West Larpenteur Ave - Second-Hand, per their website – I found this one by accident during a web search for Double Cola. Their May, 2009 newsletters indicate that they now sell Double Cola & Ski, and touts them as the "best soda on Earth." A post on Bevnet Bevboard (6/2009) also indicates that both are available “in bottles,” and are selling well.

Moorhead / Sabin (Fargo, ND, area)

• Old 52 General Store (2/2010) - 23 Main Street, Sabin – GB – Diet GB – Double Cola GB – Directly from the folks at the store . Ski, Double Cola, and Diet Ski are available here in 12oz glass bottles, and can also be ordered from their website, www.Old52.com. A browse of their site shows that they also carry Cheerwine, Red Rock, Kickapoo Joy Juice, and Green River (yum!), as well as nostalgic candies and toys. For those who call on the store in person, they also advertise a soda fountain with many flavors.

St. Louis – Second-Hand, multiple sources (7/2009). Ski is supposed to be a fairly-easy find here, including in Ski vending machines. Buckeye Distributing – (7/2011) Per a post on the official Ski facebook page, Ski & Diet Ski now being distributed by Buckeye Distributing to many parts of Ohio. The “Location” tab on their web page, at http://buckeyedist.com/ , shows their distribution area. Second-hand information indicates that Buckeye distributes mostly to convenience stores and IGA stores. Ski has been found in 20oz plastic bottles at some locations in that area (Cincinnati), listed below. Thanks to a reader for pointing this out!

First Stop Stores – First Stop is a chain of convenience stores/gas stations which are mostly found in the Northeastern Kentucky and Southern Ohio area. 20oz plastic bottles of Ski seem to be a staple at First Stop stores. Some locations are listed below. For a full list of locations, check out the “Locations” link on their homepage.

Adams and Brown Counties – I have checked multiple locations in Adams County (7/2009 & 8/2010), including Wal-Mart & two IGA stores, and have not seen Ski. However, there are many First Stop stores in both counties, and I've only been in one of them. See also “Kentucky: Maysville”.

• Manchester First Stop (8/2010) – 601 W 2^nd Street (US 52), Manchester – 20 – Ski can be found in the coolers along with the Red Rock products.

• Southeast Beverage Company (1/2012) – From the distributor, via a reader – Thanks!: This distributor currently supplies “a limited area in Southeast Ohio with 20oz bottles of Ski, Diet Ski and Infra Red Ski pop.”.

Chillicothe / Waverly – Second-Hand, multiple sources. Ski, and possibly Cherry Ski & Double Cola, should be available in some stores in both towns, and there are Ski vending machines in the Waverly area. Gem Beverages of Wellston (see Jackson / Wellston) distributes Ski to this area. From personal experience, Ski is not available at the two convenience store/gas stations in the Waverly area along Ohio 32, East of the US 23 interchange (7/2009). I have never been into Waverly proper, though. Some Second-Hand information (9/2009) indicates that Ski is not as widely available in this area as it is in the Jackson / Wellston area. There is a First Stop in nearby Piketon that would be a good place to look.

Cincinnati Area –

Jackson / Wellston / Hamden – Ski & other Double Cola products are distributed locally by Gem Beverages of Wellston & are a possible find anywhere they distribute soft drinks. My observations, along with Second-Hand observations, indicate that Ski is plentiful in this area. Second-Hand information indicates that these products should also be available in nearby Hamden, Coalton, & near the Hocking Valley State Park. The Second-Hand information listed below is from a very reliable source that frequents this area.

• Jerry's Jamestown Market (7/2009) – 185 E Broadway, at the corner with Harding, just West of the US 35 interchange, Jackson – 12/2L/6P/6C/20/DB/SC/GB/24 – Diet 12/6P/2L/20 – Cherry 20 – Double Cola 20 - Jumbo Orange & Grape 20 – This tiny store is like a Ski Mecca. Ski can be found in multiple place throughout the store. The 20oz & 10oz plastic bottles, single cans, and glass bottles (with Sugar, from Excel Bottling in Illinois) are all in the coolers along the back wall. I also saw some 2 litres & 12-pack cans in coolers in another part of the store (I didn't actually check to see if they were cold!). As if the main store wasn't enough, there was another room off to the right that had more soda in it, including more 2 litres & 12-packs of Ski & Diet Ski. This location also carries Gem Golden Cream Soda & has a Ski machine outside, facing Harding Street. Second-Hand Update (2/2010): 24-can cardboard “flats” of original Ski can also sometimes be found here, and the deli food is also good!

• Kroger (7/2009) – 530 E Main, Jackson – 12/6P/2L – Diet 6P/12 – Cherry 6P – Chaser - All found on the soda aisle, along with 6-pack plastic bottles of Gem Golden Cream Soda. Reader information (1/2012) is that this location also carries Double-Cola's Lemon-Lime soda, Chaser.

• Foodland (7/2009) – 116 W Second, Wellston - 2L/6P/12/20 – Diet 6P/12 – Double Cola 6P – Jumbo Orange 6P- All (except the single 20oz bottles) found on a large end-cap display right behind the check-out lanes. This location also carries Gem Golden Cream Soda (found on the same display) & has a Ski machine outside that contains Ski in 20oz bottles & other Gem flavors. Second-Hand update (9/2009): The Ski machine outside has been repaired, and now contains 20oz bottles of Ski, Diet Ski, Double-Cola, and Gem Golden Cream. Other flavors of Gem are apparently no longer available.

• Kroger (7/2009) – 2 East A Street, Wellston – 2L/6P/12 – Diet 6P/12 – Double Cola 6P – Jumbo Orange 6P – All found on the soda aisle. Rumor has it that this is the second-smallest Kroger store in the chain. Only one in West Virginia is smaller.

• Wellston First Stop/Poor Bob's Deli (7/2009) – Ohio 327, just North of Ohio 32 interchange, Wellston – 20/DB – Diet 20 – In the coolers along the back of the store. This location also carries Red Rock & Dad's products.

• Exxon Station/Store (7/2009) - Ohio 327, just North of Ohio 32 interchange, Wellston – 12. Advertises that they carry Ski in 12-can-packs. May also carry other packaging, as well as other Ski/Double Cola products

It is possible that Double Cola is available in the local area that Orca serves. Orca also bottles other Nostalgic and Gourmet sodas, including Moxie & multiple flavors of Nesbitt's. Orca also sells over the Internet via an amazon.com store, and Double Cola is listed there. See the “online shopping” link on the Orca web site.

• Redmond – via an Internet post (1/2011) – Double Cola GB – Double Cola, in glass, can be found in this area.

WEST VIRGINIA
